Torrevieja Town Hall has created a tourism conundrum by proposing to open a bathing area in the city’s salt lakes. The initiative is part of plan to set up a tourism complex in disused buildings which formed part of the salt industry. However, swimming in the protected lagoon is banned, with fines of up to €600.
