Guardia Civil officers have investigated the illegal felling of pine trees adjacent to a golf course in Orihuela Costa, after a tip-off from a member of the public. The golf course manager faces prosecution as there was no official authorisation to take down the trees. The area where the logs were found is close to the Sierra Escalona and Dehesa de Campoamor special protection zones and falls partly within the facilities of the golf course.
