Orihuela Carnival 2023

Orihuela Carnival

The Department of Tourism in Orihuela has organised a Carnival parade for February 17, starting at 6:00 p.m. This was announced today by the councilor for the area, María García, who explained that several music and dance academies of the municipality will participate in the parade and that it will go through the centre of the city, from calle Alfonso XIII to avenida Teodomiro, along to the Gabriel Miró roundabout.

“Each academy will dress up according to a theme to be able to give a global show,” said the Councilor for Tourism. Specifically, the participating schools are: Municipal dance school, ACAMDO association, Óscar y Ángela Academy, Ana Belén Navarro Academy and the Action Center. The schools will be accompanied by a pirate ship to the Gabriel Miró roundabout, where the end of the party will be with individual performances by each academy.

“This activity is beneficial for businesses because we boost the activity of the municipality and it is important for Education because there are centres that organise carnival and the city offers this activity so that later the children can see the parade and join us at the end of the party”, she added.

Likewise, María García has wished that “everyone likes this activity and we can repeat it every year”. For her part, Lucía Ferrer, from ACAMDO, stressed that this parade “serves to make visible the work that is done from the music academies” and that this activity “is an opportunity for families to live together and share”. In this way, she has encouraged families and children to participate in the first carnival parade in Orihuela.
