Peculiar Tradition in San Fulgencio

Locals have been donating animals in San Fulgencio this week, as part of a peculiar tradition that dates back to the end of the 18th century. The donations are collected by church delegates as they tour the town with the Queens of the Patron Saint festival. This year about ten animals have been donated, including roosters, chickens, rabbits and turkeys. From now, one animal per week will be raffled every Sunday to cover the ordinary expenses of the parish.
