The Sierra de Orihuela and the Sierra de Callosa de Segura have been declared as Special Conservation Areas. The official decree lists the protection of the environment and the natural heritage of the Valencian Community, as well as the conservation of natural habitats, wild flora and fauna. The adoption of conservation measures that avoid the deterioration of the habitats will also be adopted.
